Some people are crap
Mr. Roussos: you are either not getting enough sleep, or not enough sex. Don't be so grumpy.
I have a confession, I hate the Creative Commons license. I get annoyed whenever people release something under it. Don't get me wrong; I'm not a masochistic copyright (RIAA/MPAA) lover. I just think it's dumb when people make something, don't care what anyone does with it, and then go on their self-righteous spill about how they are placing it under the "Creative Commons" license.
Don't flatter yourself. People are going to do whatever they want with it anyway.
Here's an example of someone making a paper stand for the iPod and releasing it under Creative Commons. It's a paper stand that you have to print out and paste onto cardboard. The so called Creative Commons license is worth more than that. Am I missing something?
When an artist places a work under a Creative Commons licence, it's not them saying "I don't care what you do with this," it's the exact opposite. The CCL promotes interaction and sharing of ideas, which is the most un-apathetic acivity I can think of.

Actually, my wife has the week off, and I'm stuck going to work. That does it to me everytime.
No, you're right though. The CCL isn't a bad endeavor. To be honest, my real complaint is with the plain old ©. I think it should be more like the CCL and hence no need for the CCL.
I didn't mean to insult your stand; it's actually a pretty cool project.

It's not about self righteousness. It's about being articulate about what people can and can't do with the things you make. You can be very restricitve in your Creative Commons license, or basically say "I don't care what you do". It's a way to stop unnecessary lawsuits caused by the lack of flexibility (and understanding) of Copyright. Read about it, I think you'll convinced it's a good idea: http://www.creativecommons.org
